I was lucky enough to be able to have a great wintertime beach trip to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. This is my collection of some of the sights/sounds I was able to capture during the week-long stay.
There were several inspirations for visiting, one of which a birding tour, courtesy of Sally Siko, creator of Best Life Birding. The birding tour was a great opportunity to spend time with fellow birders and of course, see some amazing birds. The album below features some of the pictures taken during the birding tour.
Sights
Sounds
The first recording is from an hour or so of a recording of waves crashing against the beach. Only disclaimer here is there is a road between the ocean and the microphone, so there is a bit of street noise.
Recorded at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a great place to see plenty of migratory birds vacationing. The recording below is from my second visit, taken early in the morning. You’ll mostly hear waterfowl (like swans, geese, other ducks), some usual suspects (wrens, cardinals, etc.), and water crashing against the nearby shore.
Moonrise
This is a short timelapse of a moonrise over the Atlantic Ocean
